City of Angels (กรุงเทพ)
The translation of Bangkok's full name is 'City of angels, great city of immortals, magnificent city of the nine gems, seat of the king, city of royal palaces, home of gods incarnate, erected by Vishvakarman at Indra's behest.'
It certainly isn't a name that rolls off of the tongue with ease, and for any other city, it might seem much too grandiose. However, if any city in the world merits such a descriptive title, it is Thailand's magnificent capital. Many words can be used to describe Krung Thep;
it's a sprawling metropolis that is multidimensional, confusing, contradicting, and intense in all aspects.
I've lived in Bangkok for over a decade now. I put together these images to try and depict this overwhelmingly complex city as it really is.
