Navaratri Bangkok 2018
The Navaratri Festival in October is a 9 night and 10 day Hindu festival that celebrates the goddess Durga. Celebrations include stage decorations, recital of the legend, enacting of the story, and chanting of the scriptures of Hinduism. Though Thailand is a Buddhist country, Hindu deities & rituals play a significant part in local spirituality and religious folklore. The festival in Bangkok is held around Wat Khaek, the city's most famous temple on Silom Road. This is certainly a big event for Bangkok's large Indian-Hindu population, but also for Thai Buddhists who come to receive blessings from Sadhu (holy people) to bring good fortune.
