Bangkok's airplane graveyard is a field of various planes, a Boeing 747 and two smaller MD-82’s, left to wear away in the middle of the city. The MD-82
One MD-82 was involved in a fatal crash in Phuket in 2007 which left 89 people dead. It is said that the planes are now owned by a local businessman who sells the scrapped parts. The property is looked after by a family who have converted some of the aircraft into living quarters, makeshift homes from scrapped airplanes. They charge a small fee to walk the premises of derelict planes and take pictures. Visitors can climb aboard the planes, mostly stripped bare inside, and have a look inside the aircraft, one of which holds a very dark history.
