Middle School No. 3 is located in Zone 3, one of 5 secondary schools in Pripyat. It's located on Sportivnaya Street, next to the Azure swimming pool. It contains a large number of child-sized gas masks, as they were taken out of storage by looters looking for some years back, scrapped for the small bits of silver in their construction. The masks were kept in the school to provide protection against potential nuclear, chemical or biological attacks, preparation for which were a harsh necessity of daily life in Cold War era.
This is one of the few Pripyat schools that is still in relatively good condition, with little water damage and a minimum amount of roof collapse. Some of the classrooms still have books, science experiment equipment, educational posters and desks in place as if class could start again, albeit with a great deal of tidying up.
