The Stately Bangkok Home
This ornate, stately home has sat unoccupied since 1996, hidden away by dense foliage on a quiet soi in outer Bangkok. Looking from the street, there is no indication of what lies behind the walls. It’s a generous portion of land, filled with trees, dense growth and about 12 soi dogs, which are fed by a kind-hearted older lady each and every day of the week. I was told about this location by my friend Kang, who has visited once or twice in his business of paranormal investigation. The interior is ornamented, with high-quality wooden floors which are still in great condition, an eye-catching staircase and other embellishments, indicative of the affluent status of the intended inhabitants. I have no information on why the home was never occupied, but the time of dereliction coincides with the financial crisis of 1997, which left many projects, big and small, aborted and abandoned across the land of smiles.
As I was leaving, I met a very kind older lady, Khun Noi, carrying a bag of food to give to the many stray dogs that inhabit thew premises. She said that she comes each day to bring the meals of rice & sparse meat to the needy animals who depend on her. I gave her a bit of cash to hopefully help her to pay for some of it.
This location did not have any ‘do not enter/no trespassing’ signage around it & there was nobody around to ask permission, plus it was unlocked/open, so I went in for a few minutes, shot some pictures & left. I hope that the site remains unknown to the masses so that it maintains the great condition that it is in, considering how long it has been unattended.
